Baramulla, May 07 (KNO): In view of the escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla has issued an urgent directive, ordering immediate mobilization of school buses from multiple private schools for emergency transportation purposes.
The directive, a copy of which lies within the possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) instructs heads of seven educational institutions—including SRM Welkin School Sopore, DPS Baramulla and GD Goinka Baramulla to dispatch their buses to Degree College Baramulla within one hour.
A total of 85 buses have been requisitioned under the emergency order, likely for civilian evacuation or logistical support as part of crisis management efforts.
The schools asked to comply are: SRM Welkin School Sopore – 25 buses, Netherfield School Sopore – 10 buses, DPS Baramulla – 10 buses, Arafeen School Delina – 10 buses, Sanctorum Public School Sopore – 10 buses, Apex Public School Sopore – 10 buses and GD Goinka Baramulla – 10 buses.
The order emphasizes strict compliance, warning that failure to follow instructions may lead to cancellation of vehicle registration without any further notice.
Furthermore, school heads have also been asked to coordinate with the district administration and ARTO Baramulla and to submit driver details and vehicle information promptly.
The urgent move comes amid a wider security response following heavy cross-border shelling in Uri, Karnah, and other LoC-adjacent areas, which has led to civilian injuries, displacement, and closure of educational institutions across Baramulla, Kupwara, and Gurez—(KNO)
